This review sheds light on the glossary and structure of the vocabulary entry (the defi ni- tion of the headword, examples, cross references) in the “Dictionary of Macedonian Traditional Culture” (Skopje, 2016; 564 p.) by Liljana Makarijoska. The dictionary is com- pared with other Slavic lexicographic publications of similar type, based on Bulgarian and all-Slavic folk traditions. The author chooses dialectal words from the vocabulary of material and spiritual Macedonian culture as headwords, paying attention not only to single words, but to verbal formulae as well (curses, good wishes), presenting them as special entries. Each entry contains interpretation of the corresponding notion in the folk tradition of Macedonia. Thus, the dictionary occupies the middle-ground between dialectal and encyclopaedic.
