Abstract

The article considers the problem of freedom from the perspective of the ethical maximalism of Fyodor Dostoevsky. The writer is primarily interested in the fate of a "liberated" man who fl aunted the law, "fell" out of the cosmic order, declared willfulness. Freedom is a destiny of a man, his cross, no freedom means no human being. But freedom inevitably turns into slavery, becomes a destructive force if, reveling in boundless freedom, the man does not recognize anything higher than himself.
