Abstract

"The Dancing Hawk" by J. Kavalec, a classic of the Polish country prose, shows the drama of a Polish peasant, who failed to adapt to the new reality after 1945. By becoming a citizen, by completely rejecting the village life the main character loses his sociocultural identity. The article considers the moral, philosophical, psychological aspects of the novel and the peculiarities of its poetics.
