Abstract

The All-Russian Fedin Readings is a traditional event organized by the Saratov State Fedin Museum, the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Saratov Chernyshevsky State University.  It takes place every two years at the State Fedin Museum, which has the writer's archive and conducts extensive research on his work. The scientific conference within the Fedin Readings usually focuses on revealing various aspects of the literary landscape in Russia during the 20th century. This time, the theme of the meeting “The Writer-Critic-Reader in the Literary Process of the Soviet Era” covered a quite wide time span, from the 1920s to the late 1980s. At the first plenary session, the speakers mainly discussed the critical debates of the interwar decades. All the presentations at the second plenary session were related to the work of K.A. Fedin. The third session focused on writers who were contemporaries of K. A. Fedin, while the fourth session presented reports based on the materials from regional literary museums. The fifth session focused on the readers’ reaction to the works of M. Gorky, O. Forsh, O. Bergholz and A. Akhmatova. These letters were preserved in various archives. A collection of the most interesting presentations will be published based on the conference materials.
