Abstract

The article is devoted to the history of the Russo-Montenegrin relations on the eve of World War I. The author pays particular attention to the bilateral military convention of 1910. It was suspended after the Balkan wars of 1912–1913 because of King Nicolas’ attitude towards Russia. On the other hand Russian political and military leadership was interested in cooperation with Montenegro in pre-war context. Moreover there were various opinions towards matter under discussion within Russian Foreign Ministry as well as Russia Army General Staff. As a result the problem of military convention prolongation got important geopolitical aspect.
