Abstract

When the Russian-Bulgarian cultural ties were being established and developed, N.N. Murzakevich (1806–1833) was successful as a mediator between the Bulgarian community in Odessa and Moscow scholars who developed the Slavic studies. Thanks to Murzakevich, an extremely rich collection of Bulgarian books was assembled in Moscow. Many of his pupils studied in the Moscow University. Murzakevich’s activities in research and instruction aimed at educating the Bulgarian people and strengthening the interest of Moscow scholars to the past and the present of Bulgarians.
