Abstract

The 50th anniversary of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878 gave rise to various events and publications carried out by Russian émigrés. The article pays special attention to the works of the well-known Russian historian A. V. Florovsky on the liberating role of Russia for the Balkan Slavs and on the Russian public opinion of the 1870s
