Abstract

The project “Contrastive and Typological Analysis of Secondary Nomination of Concrete Nouns in Bulgarian, Russian, Serbian, Czech, French, and English” was carried out in three major stages. The project has been developed by researchers at the Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. L. Andreychin”, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, under the supervision of Assoc. prof., Ph.D. Palmira Legurska, who is also the author of the theoreti- cal background and methodology of the project and has authored the Bulgarian and Rus- sian part of the project; the Serbian part was developed by Assoc. prof., Ph.D. N. Becheva, the Czech part was developed by Senior Researcher Ph.D. Tzv. Avramova, the French part was authored by Prof. Ph.D. D. Vesselinov, the English part was developed by Senior Re- searcher Ph.D. M. Lilova, (Легурска 2009; Легурска, Бечева, Аврамова, Веселинов, Лилова, Панчев 2009). This article presents two groups from the third stage of the project – onomasiologi- cal catalogue of image metaphors: semantic transitions ‘an animal – a man’ and ‘a plant – a man’ in Bulgarian, Russian, Serbian, Czech, French, and English.
