Bulgarian proverbs about family (special features of national mentality)

Abstract

The concept of the “family” in the Bulgarian language can by reconstructed using the concepts of its membеrs and through concepts related to different opportunities using and challenges of its development. This article analyzes proverbs and sayings with the following key components: wife, husband, husband and wife, mother. The woman is pre- sented as a wife and a mother of the family. As a wife, she may by contradictory, but as a mother she is exclusively monolithic. Woman is the “soul of the family”.
