Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko in the modern Ukrainian culture: an attempt of “reset”

Abstract

The article is devoted to those events in the modern Ukrainian culture, which sug- gest rethinking traditional role and meaning of Shevchenko’s work and his figure. Special attention is paid to de-mytholigation of the poet’s image in the contemporary Ukrainian literature. The functioning of «Shevchenko’s text» in the fine arts and music is considered separately. The conclusion is made that although numerous attempt to deconstruct the na- tional canon were taken, Shevchenko and his heritage do not lose their sacred meaning in the Ukrainian culture.
