T.G. Shevchenko and Russian culture: the incessant mutual enrichment

Abstract

The Russian-language works of Ukrainian poet T. Schevchenko are reviewed; the reasons for many Russian-language readers and even famous Russian writers to read his poems in Ukrainian language are discussed. By example of the works of Schevchenko it is stated that the matter of mutual language enrichment is significant from the cultural point of view not only for Russian and Ukrainian people, but also for the Czechs and the Slovaks, the Serbians and the Croatians, the Spanish and the Catalans, the British, the Scottish and the Irish, etc.
