Abstract

In the nineteenth-century Poland «the myth of Napoleon» was born. However, all hopes for his help in the restoration of the Polish state were in vain. Democratic leaders of the Polish emigration, formed after the uprising of 1830, were unveiling Napoleon’s true intentions towards the Poles, and thus denounced this myth.
