Publication of the historical and cultural encyclopedic guide “Old Believers (the Semeiskie) of Buriatia”

Abstract

Historical and cultural encyclopedic guide “Old Believers (the Semeiskie) of Buriatia” is the first systemized guide book about the history and culture of the Old Believers (the Semeiskie) published in the Buryat Rupublic. New archive materials and field studies allowed analyzing the appearance and migration of the Old Believers in the Transbaikal region. Special attention is given to the material and intellectual culture, forming of the church hierarchy in the area, organization of the interconfessional life of the community and also to the process of establishment, development and current condition of the Old Believers (the Semeiskie) ethno-confessional group.
