The article deals with the prohibition on distribution in the USSR of the film by Jerzy Kawalerowicz “Mother Joan of the Angels”, and shows, though the prism of relations between the authorities and the Catholic church, the historical milieu in the early-1960s Polish People Republic and the Soviet Union
