A hard choice for Tsar Boris III: on the issue of Bulgaria’s accedence to the Tripartite Pact in 1941

A number of circumstances made Bulgaria under the rule of Tsar Boris III run the gamut from neutrality to the alliance with Hitlerite Germany. The article describes difficult internal and external conditions under which the Bulgarian monarch had to work and to make this fatal choice.
