Abstract

The article is devoted to the 140th anniversary of birth of the Slovenian literature classic Ivan Cankar (1876–1918); the article covers the main highlights of his life and work, his contribution to the development of national literature and culture. The author also points out the most remarkable works on Cankar as well as Russian translations of his writings.
