In the memory of Maya Ilinichna Ryzhova (1927–2017)

The article is devoted to the member of the older generation of Russian experts on Slovenia, the famous literary critic and translator Maya Iljinichna Ryzhova, who has dedicated her entire life to the study of literature and culture of Slovenia and the history of Russo-Slavonic literary relations. The author traces the life of the famous scholar, examines her contribution to Soviet and Russian Slavic studies in the late twentieth — early twenty fi rst centuries. The author pays special attention to Ryzhova’s activities as a translator, which led to great advances in the Slovenian literature in our country. Creating a portrait of the scholar, the author uses her personal impressions from meetings and conversations with M.I. Ryzhova and dedicates this work to her memory.
