Abstract

The article analyses the development of the Yugoslav-Romanian relations in 1966. At that time, the cooperation of the two countries intensifi ed, especially in the political sphere. The key to this convergence was the similarity of their positions on many international issues, the foremost of which was the desire of the leaders of the two countries to achieve a certain degree of independence from the Soviet Union. The chosen way to establish a dialogue were personal meetings of Nicolae Ceauşescu and Josip Broz Tito. These meetings included frank and quite productive discussions. A number of materials from both Serbian and Russian archives are treated for the first time.
