Abstract

The article focuses on the history of Muslim Slavic population of the Ottoman provinces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1850s. The author attempts to reconstruct an image of the Slavic Muslims who were living in Bosnian pashaluk and Herzegovinian Sandzak. The research is based on the works of A.F. Hilferding — the Russian Consul in Sarajevo, a Slavophil and historian. The main emphasis of the article is on the history of the Slavic aristocracy.
