Abstract

Thе article discusses different aspects of the history of relations between the authorities and the peoples of Russia and Montenegro based on the correspondence between the Metropolitan Peter Petrovich Negosh — sovereigns of Montenegro — and the Russian Catherine II and Paul I in 1784–1798. Fragments of the letters (form the collections of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents, the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire, the National Archives and the Library of Montenegro, archival and library collections of the Cetinje monastery) are presented here the first time.
