Abstract

The local Chronicle of Serres for the years 1597/1598–1641/1642 by the Greek priest Synadinos sheds light on the way the Greek-speaking middling-stratum educated provincial community perceived the multi-ethnical and multi-confessional picture of the pre-modern Ottoman Balkans.
