The fiftieth anniversary of the publication of "The liberation of Bulgaria from Turkish rule”

Abstract

The article is devoted to the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of the fundamental three-volume collection of documents and materials "The liberation of Bulgaria from Turkish rule" (Vol. I–III. Moscow, 1961–1967) prepared by researchers of the Institute of Slavic Studies and by the staff of the Soviet archives. This work was conducted in collaboration with Bulgarian historians and archivists as a part of international scientifi c cooperation. The article examines the main contents of the publication and shows the contribution made by Soviet and Bulgarian experts to the study of the history of the Russo-Turkish war (1877–1878) and the issue "The Liberation of Bulgaria".
